Obama is a muslim not so preposterous

The people who believe Obama is a muslim are not the only crazies out there.  People believe in all sorts of preposterous ideas.  Take, for example, the idea that religious liberty requires the building of the triumphal mosque near Ground Zero.  Muslims are dead-set against religious liberty - for others and even within their own religion.  It is more plausible that Obama actually is a muslim than it is that the intent and purpose of this mosque is to promote interfaith understanding or religious pluralism.  Obama was, after all, born a muslim - had a muslim father and then a muslim step-father; he's obsessed with winning the approval of muslims; he's anti-Israel; he refers to Iran as an Islamic Republic; he directed his NASA director to promote good relations with Islam (that's about as creepy, totalitarian as you can get); and he's allowing a fanatical Islamic regime to acquire nuclear weapons.  Muslims are allowed to lie in the land of infidels, so Obama's paper -thin professions of devout Christianity are laughable, and let's not forget that his church was really indistinguishable in its ideology from the Nation of Islam - it was aggressively, black nationalist.  And then there's his name - Barack Hussein Obama, which sounds as Muslim as Giussepe Antonio Gandolfini sounds Italian.

The real intent behind building the Mosque is to undermine America's standing as a pluralistic and tolerant society.  The hope of the builders is that America is so sensitive to what passes for international opinion regarding its hypocritical invocation of liberal values that it will buckle and actively aid in promoting Islam (which is antithetical to those values).  Those opposing the mosque are "anti-Islamic", a charge reminiscent of being "anti-communist".  Both charges disallow examination of the doctrine in question.  Islam demands, in fact, special status in the west, and it gets it thanks to terrorists. Cartoons, South Park Episodes, films - all aspects of media that are put to work on a routine basis attacking every aspect of western culture (as it their right) observe a law of Omerta, entirely consistent with Sharia, of not criticizing Islam.  Who, after all, wants to be stabbed through the chest?  To pretend that there is some disconnect between terror and "moderate" Islam is infinitely more stupid than thinking Obama is a muslim.  Murderers simply pave the way for "moderates" to pretend to non-violently carve out (pun intended) for Islam a greater and greater space in the western world - all part of a mission to convert and conquer.

Well, if there are American muslim citizens and they're a big enough and important enough group to merit all this attention and consideration, then it's time for the National Endowment of the Humanities to start subsidizing P*ss Mohammeds.  It's time for Steven Colbert to knowingly raise his eyebrows at Imans during interviews and query as to what they do with all the sexual frustration  - being sure to use as many sodomy and masturbation double entendres as he can muster.  It's time also for the government to use the force at its disposal for the only real legitimate purpose such force actually has - namely, suppressing Islamic psychotics who kill, maim, burn and destroy whenever their prophet is portrayed as encouraging killing, maiming, burning and destroying.  Such fanatics need to be arrested, prosecuted and jailed because the sole purpose for which they exercise their rights is to deny others the free exercise of their own - through violent intimidation.

Of course none of this will happen, which is why future historians may very well conclude that there had to be something to the belief that Obama was a muslim because it was during his time in office that the Islamicization of America began.

Maybe they'll dig up videos of him referring to "my islamic faith...."

Why Black Congressmen and Women are more likely to be more corrupt...

Scared of being called racist, conservatives do not state the obvious.  Regarding the Congressional Black Caucus, Jonah Goldberg at least acknowledged that members of that less than fine group are more predisposed to corruption, but he did the dishonest thing and made sure to attribute it to something other than race and blamed it on seniority.  How p.c. and how wrong.

Not that seniority won't yield corruption, but in the case of black politicians, corruption is more likely because of race.  Being able to claim racial victimhood simply insulates black politicians from accountability.  Not only does a Maxine Waters know she can use race as a defense, she also knows that the very fact that she can makes it less likely that she will be scrutinized for wrong doing.

Ultimately, a Maxine Waters really relies on the rally 'round the race mentality within the black community  - that an attack on any high profile black person is an attack on all, that, despite obvious and overwhelming evidence of guilt, self-serving abuse of power, and continued failure to remedy any of the problems in the black community that a good politician would address.  The most obvious exemplar of this all too common phenomenon would have to be Marion Barry.

But when average blacks rally around high profile, elites like Marion Barry or Maxine Waters, they're really rallying around their oppressors and falling for the whitey's out to get you because he's getting me ploy.

In general, bourgeois blacks benefit most from promoting failure in the black community.  The scam is obvious.  Knowing that affirmative action sets aside a few positions, it is in the self interest of bourgeois blacks to limit competition for those positions.  Thus promoting black academic failure by undermining standards and discipline (by simply calling efforts to maintain both racist) leads to a severe narrowing of the competitive pool.  Second, promoting pathological behavior seals the deal.  Further, it keeps enough blacks in a bad condition for bourgeois blacks to be able to demand more race based benefits.  After all, high incarceration rates, high unemployment, and low test scores all point to the fact that racism remains a serious impediment in the average black person's life.  Thus, the pool of competitors shrinks even more - as racism provides an out for the hard work and discipline necessary to have any kind of success - while the benefits set aside for blacks multiply; and who gets all those benefits?  Bourgeois blacks.

In other words, the black upper middle class - the Cornell West's, the Henry Louis Gates, the Minister Farakkan's, the Reverend Wright's, the Al Sharpton's, the NAACP - promote black failure to secure for themselves wealth, status, position and prestige.  Oh, and they are all insulated from any kind of serious scrutiny because they rally 'round their "brothers" whenever the truth is said because the truth isn't the truth - it's really just another case of a black man making it and being dragged down by whitey.

Unintended Consequences - The Folly of Mixing Economics and Government

This is less a result of rushed legislation than simply legislation regarding economic transactions. The whole point of the legislation was dubious to begin with - saving the environment and subsidizing the car industry. Correction! I should have said saving the new car industry. All of the objectives of the legisaltion were political: car dealers were angry about the arbitrary closing of dealerships by now government owned GM and Chrysler. Boosting their business buys them off - but the check may or may not be in the mail. What we have here is a classic case of "transaction costs" that deter economic activity. The legislation is also a misguided prayer that the sales of GM and other bail out cars will improve - thus justifying the bail outs. In their heart of hearts the Democrats in Congress and Obama would like nothing more than to make the rebates apply only to GM, but that would simply be too overt a case of cronyism, so all cars are available, so this will more likely than not be a boon to Toyota and Mitsubishi (and Ford) than GM and Chrysler. Last - the farce of environmentalism: Obama wants car companies producing more fuel efficient cars. Getting gas guzzlers of the road for marginally more efficient cars will not effect the environment - or, if it does, no one will ever know. This is simply a symbolic gesture masquerading as a substantive gesture intended to buy off the environmentalist constituency, and it will work in that regard. My guess is that people who drive gas guzzlers will not opt for solar powered Yugos but instead will buy cars that are marginally more efficient - which again, means anything but a GM or Chrysler model that is simply in the same class as a Toyota, Honda or Ford. We're talking mini-van for mini van. There are very compelling reasons to separate economics from politics - just as compelling as separating religion. As for the "economics" of the Democratic left, it really is a religion - and insistent folly, contrary to historical fact, that only produces hypocrisy as it only produces the opposite of what it pretends to purport.
